Waldman, Rome Nominated For Radio Hall Of Fame

Suzyn Waldman and Jim Rome have both been nominated for induction in the Radio Hall of Fame. Rome’s fate will be decided by the Hall’s panel. Waldman’s inclusion is up to fans.

Waldman was the first voice ever heard on WFAN. She has been part of the New York sports scene for years, currently serving as the color commentator on New York Yankees radio broadcasts. Waldman is just the third woman in history to serve as a team’s full time color commentator.

Jim Rome got his start in radio while still in college at UC Santa Barbara. Since 1996 The Jim Rome Show has been syndicated across the country. Rome currently is in integral part of the CBS Sports family. His show is simulcast everyday starting at noon Eastern on the CBS Sports Network and CBS Sports Radio.

The show, which is heard on over 200 stations across the country, has inspired fierce loyalty amongst listeners, or “clones” as they are called on the show. Rome has released an album featuring some of the show’s most iconic moments, made multiple live tour stops, and has been featured in several movies and TV Shows.

“Each year we have the privilege of coming together to acknowledge those who have tremendously impacted our industry and the audiences they serve,” Radio Hall of Fame Chairman Kraig Kitchin said in a press release. “We’re all proud to present our 2019 nominees.”

Fan voting begins on July 15. Inductees will be announced August 5 and they’ll be honored this Fall at the 31st Annual Induction Ceremony. A full list of nominees is below.
