LeBron James and Maverick Carter are expanding their digital brand Uninterrupted internationally, and they’re turning to an old friend to take the platform north of the border. Rapper Drake is providing the financial backing to launch Uninterrupted Canada.
Drake will become a part owner and international promoter of the new brand. Scott Moore, the former head of Rogers Sportsnet, joins as Uninterrupted Canada’s CEO.
Uninterrupted launched in the US in 2015 as an athlete empowerment brand. The platform allows athletes to speak directly to their fans by creating and posting content they created. The Canadian off-shoot will do the same, focusing exclusively on Canadian-born athletes and stars of teams based in Canada.
The Canadian platform will bring some content from the American platform to Canadian viewers. There will also be original, Canada-only content. Uninterrupted Canada is already working on a series following the Raptors’ Serge Ibaka as he gets set to launch a new clothing brand and a motivational series from former Blue Jay Marcus Stroman.
Moore told The Hollywood Reporter that he wants Uninterrupted Canada to put a focus on what athletes are doing away from the playing field. “These are incredibly driven people who often have deep passions for things other than what sport they play,” he said.
