Alex Ferrario Following Blues To 101 ESPN

As the St. Louis Blues moved their flagship radio station from KMOX NewsRadio 1120 to 101 ESPN, pre and postgame host, Alex Ferrario is following the Stanley Cup Champions to their new affiliate.

“My main role will be the Pre/Post Host for St. Louis Blues games.  I will also be a fill-in show host, guest, and adding content to the web and social media,” Ferrario wrote via an Instagram post.  “To the 101 team – Thank you for this opportunity.  To my wife – Thank you for always being beside me.  To my family & friends – Thank you for all the support.  And to the listeners – Thank you for the feedback and passion, you make this career I pursue never once feel like ‘work,’ Now…LET’S DO THIS!!!!” he added.

Ferrario joined KMOX six years ago as a producer, before working his way up to being an on-air personality.  His position with KMOX was part-time, forcing him to maintain a job with his father’s business as a “pest control technician.”  Joining 101 ESPN as a full-time employee means Ferrario will have to give up his bug-spraying gig.

Although he certainly enjoyed having Ferrario at the station, KMOX NewsRadio 1120 program director, Steve Moore was happy to see the broadcaster get a full-time opportunity with 101 ESPN.

“I always want to see young people grow and develop, and there are times when they have to take the next step,” Moore told Dan Caesar of the St. Louis Dispatch-Post. “I’m super happy for Alex to get a full-time job — he’s passionate about the Blues. It will be a great thing for him.”

With KMOX, Ferrario also hosted Sports Open Line and worked on their pre and postgame coverage of St. Louis Cardinals broadcasts.  Following his move to 101 ESPN, KMOX has hired local broadcaster, Joe Pott as a part-time broadcaster.

“This is pretty exciting,” the 41-year old Pott told the St.Louis Post-Dispatch. “Anybody who grew up in St. Louis in the ’80s, listening to (Jack) Buck and (Mike) Shannon doing the Cardinals, to be part of that tradition” is special.

In addition to joining KMOX, Pott has served as the media liaison for Southern Illinois University Edwardsville’s athletics department, having also provided the radio call for their men’s basketball and baseball broadcasts.
