Portland’s 750 The Game is planning end its FM simulcast on 102.9. No additional details have been announced for the Alpha Media owned translator, but listeners will still be able to hear sports programming on 750 AM and the station’s digital platforms.
After nearly five years airing on 102.9 FM, the sports station reverted their website and social media accounts back to 750 The Game branding.
The Game offers a mix of local and national programming featuring The Bald Faced Truth with John Canzano from noon – 3pm as their only full-time local weekday show. The Game also carries The Dan Patrick Show from 6 – 9am and serves as a CBS Sports Radio affiliate.
102.9 FM could be a landing spot for Alpha Media’s rhythmic contemporary station WE 96.3 once the sports simulcast ends. Owned by Horizons Media LLC, but operated by Alpha Media, KWEE 96.3 is being sold to the WAY-FM Network which offers contemporary Christian programming.
This is the second sports station in recent weeks to announce it would be dropping their FM signal in favor of broadcasting only on AM radio. Last month, WNDE 1260 in Indianapolis ended its FM simulcast on 97.5 after four years.
