Chris Russell Pulled Over During Radio Interview

106.7 The Fan part-time host and columnist, Chris Russell was pulled over while using his cell phone during an interview with afternoon host Chad Dukes.

While discussing Capitals star Evgeny Kuznetsov’s failed drug test, the sound of sirens bled through the call before Russell said, “um –  Dukes, I think I’m getting pulled over.”

Russell stayed on the line long enough for listeners to hear him plead with the officer, “I’m sorry I was doing a radio interview – I understand.  I’m sorry, I was – okay okay!” and then the call dropped.

Russell reacted to the moment on Twitter and even asked if the radio station would help cover a $500 ticket.  Program director Chris Kinard quickly declined to feel compassion for the host’s inability to use a hands-free device in 2019.

It wasn’t the first time someone was pulled over during a radio interview, a few weeks ago the same thing happened to NFL writer Peter King while he was on The Dan Patrick Show.  Although its happened on multiple radio stations, driving incidents seem to occur more frequently during interviews on 106.7 The Fan.

In 2014, then manager of the Washington Nationals, Matt Williams was rear-ended during an interview with the Junkies.  In 2010, Chris Cooley was stopped by police, also during an appearance with the Junkies and in 2013 Clinton Portis was pulled over for speeding while on the phone with The Fan.
