The Cleveland Cavaliers Tweeted the morning that the voice of the team’s TV broadcasts on Fox Sports Ohio, Fred McLeod, died overnight.
McLeod had a long career in NBA broadcasting. He joined the Cavaliers in 2006. Prior to that he spent 22 years in Detroit as the voice of the Pistons.
His career wasn’t limited to basketball. In 1979 McLeod was the television voice of the Cleveland Indians. He also called Detroit Tigers and Lions games in his career.
A press release from the Cavaliers noted that McLeod played a major role in the team’s digital presence as well. He served as the team’s Executive Producer of Multimedia, providing content for the team’s official website as well as social media platforms.
Fred McLeod is survived by his wife Beth, mother Marilyn, sister Lynn, and his three children, Sean, Jenna, Molly and each of their families.
