Shoes and sports go hand in hand. That is why ESPN is launching a new series on its streaming platform, ESPN+, dedicated to sneaker culture.
SneakerCenter is hosted by Cassidy Hubbarth and premiered earlier this week. The first episode features interviews with rapper Common, former NBA MVP Derrick Rose, and sneaker customizer Blunt Shank. Future episodes will include features on the Pro Keds Kareem Abdul-Jabbar wore when he first entered the NBA, the production and design of Nike’s first signature shoe for Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Deadstock, a coffee shop that houses one of the country’s most popular sneaker shrines. Interviews with Kawhi Leonard, Kofi Kingston, and Penny Hardaway have been recorded for future episodes as well.
New episodes in the seven-part series will drop every Tuesday. ESPN is also giving the show a major push on social media. The @sneakercenter Instagram account will be publishing highlights from each episode.
