WFNZ in Charlotte has decided not to renew the contract of program director Tony DiGiacomo. Operations Manager Darrin Ariens will oversee the station in the interim with assistance from internal staff members. The station has been on a roll lately producing strong results with Men 18-34 and 25-54.
DiGiacomo, who local listeners and staff referred to as ‘The Hitman‘, spent over a decade with WFNZ, serving in a variety of roles on-air and behind the scenes before becoming PD in February 2017. His final day at the station was this past Monday.
“It was an honor to be part of WFNZ, working with some of the best talent in the business, and help the station become an important part of the Charlotte sports community,” said DiGiacomo. “I want to thank Matt Hanlon, Darrin Ariens, and Entercom for the privilege of programming the radio station the past three years. I wish them and my former teammates all the best moving forward, and look forward to the next chapter in my sports media career.”
