Thursday afternoon, Stadium college football analyst Michael Felder joined WFNZ’s The Clubhouse with Kyle Bailey to discuss the Carolina Panthers’ draft class. The Panthers were met with some criticism when they took Derrick Brown with the No. 7 overall pick, but Felder gave a passionate plea in defense of the nose tackle, featuring an interesting choice of words.
Bailey asked Felder about a belief from the analytics community that Brown wasn’t worthy of a top-10 pick, “because he’s really just a run stuffer at the NFL level.”
“They can eat my ass,” Felder said defiantly before quickly apologizing, but Bailey chimed right in and doubled down on the opinion.
“I agree with you, I really do,” Bailey said before adding, “that’s essentially the sentiment I was sharing on Monday.” To be clear, the sentiment Bailey referred to was about Brown being a good pick by the Panthers regardless of the criticism.
Despite the live radio slip up, Felder probably doesn’t need to worry about the analytics community taking him up on the offer. You can hear the full interview below.
