Terry Foxx Named Brand Manager At WFNZ

The search for a new leader in Charlotte is over. Entercom turns to a familiar face as Terry Foxx is named brand manager of WFNZ. Foxx most recently ran 92.9 the Game, Entercom’s sports brand in Atlanta.

“Terry brings a wealth of experience architecting leading sports radio brands and will help usher in a new era of growth for WFNZ,” Matt Hanlon, Entercom’s Senior Vice President and Market Manager in Charlotte, said in a press release. “The station serves as an extremely important sports and lifestyle brand for the people of Charlotte, who rely on us to be informative, timely, relevant and entertaining. Terry’s leadership will be instrumental and we’re looking forward to adding him to the team.”

Foxx was let go in April as part of Entercom’s company wide layoffs due to the pandemic after building The Game into Atlanta’s dominant sports radio brand. He was the station’s first program director. He left 93.7 The Fan in Pittsburgh in the summer of 2012 to launch The Game when both stations were owned by CBS Radio. Prior to his time in Pittsburgh, Foxx served as a program director at the ESPN Radio network.

“I’m very excited to join Entercom Charlotte and the great team at WFNZ,” Foxx said in a press release. “Charlotte is a great city full of passionate sports fans and I look forward to enhancing their sports radio home with unparalleled content and in-depth discussion. I want to thank Matt for this incredible opportunity, along with Doug Abernethy [Regional President, Entercom].”

WFNZ has been without a brand manager since March. Tony DiGiacomo’s contract was not renewed after serving as PD since 2017. Entercom Charlotte also suffered a shocking loss in April when OM Darrin Ariens died of Covid-19.
