The sports radio scene is a little less crowded in Tulsa, Oklahoma. No official announcement has been released by The Tyler Media Group, but Tulsa’s The Franchise 107.9 flipped formats earlier this week.
107.9 debuted its sports format in Sept. 2015, and for the last 4.5 years it mixed local talent and programming that was simulcast from sister station The Franchise 107.7 in Oklahoma City. Tulsa has been scrubbed from The Franchise website and 107.9 is now airing Latin music.
For Tyler Media, this is the third significant programming change the company has endured this year. In January, they underwent a significant round of cuts, laying off four on-air contributors from The Franchise. And when COVID-19 ravaged the economy a few months later, Tyler Media parted ways with Mike Steely and Jessi Stone from their morning show on The Franchise.
