Woj dropped a bomb this week, but it isn’t the type he is usually earning praise for. Missouri Senator Josh Hawley sent a press release to the ESPN NBA insider in which he demanded that ESPN question the NBA about why it won’t let players wear pro-democracy, anti-China messages on their jerseys. Adrian Wojnarowski responded with two simple words: “f*** you”.
Hawley tweeted Woj’s emailed response on Wednesday morning.
ESPN PR put out a statement calling its employee’s actions “inexcusable.” Wojnarowski tweeted an apology that mentioned the senator by name.
Hawley does not accept the apology.
“No, I don’t want an apology,” he told Outkick.com. “I want ESPN to ask the NBA why they won’t let players stand up for America and be able to criticize China’s actions. But maybe ESPN won’t say anything because they benefit from the NBA’s global presence. Until ESPN speaks out, all they are really doing is enabling the Chinese Communist Party to stifle free speech in America.”
ESPN has not addressed the Senator’s initial letter. It also did not offer specifics about any discipline for Wojnarowski.
