Entercom’s 97.1 The Ticket in Detroit put together a dominant effort for the spring quarter. The sports-less ratings book saw each show in their The Ticket’s lineup finish either first or second overall in the target demo of men 25-54.
Operating without sports had no ill-effect in morning drive as Jamie Samuelsen and Mike Stone kicked off The Ticket’s weekday lineup with a 10.5 share, up almost two points from the winter and year-over-year. According to Nielsen Audio, the strong morning numbers had Jamie & Stoney with Heather finishing second overall.
From 10a – 2p, their midday show hosted by Doug Karsch and Scott Anderson took the market’s top spot with an 11.7, up a tick from winter. Mike Valenti continued his strong work in afternoon drive with an 11.5 share, which was down year-over-year, but still led to a first place finish in the market.
The Detroit sports radio station also finished fourth for the full week, (M-SU 6a – Midnight) with an 8.5 share. But The Ticket isn’t just competing with local sports talk, especially after WDFN recently flipped formats, they’re looking to top all radio stations in the market. Success with their targeted audience carried into the larger demo of adults 25 – 54, where Valenti finished first in afternoons with a 7.4 share, Karsch & Anderson were in the top spot with a 7.9, while Jamie & Stoney were again second with a 7.3.
