Texas Rangers Scramble After 2 Broadcasters Test Positive For Covid-19

The Texas Rangers announced on Friday that two members of its radio broadcast crew tested positive for Covid-19. One of those two was play-by-play man Matt Hicks. The team closed the broadcast facilities at the new Globe Life Field to any media member not able to document a negative test. The facilities were also cleaned and sanitized.

Hicks’s regular partner Eric Nadel opted to stay away from the booth this weekend. That left the team in a bind. Fortunately, they were able to turn to Jared Sandler of flagship 105.3 the Fan. He called games alongside former Rangers players David Murphy and Mark Mclemore. All three men were in separate booths around the stadium.

“The health and safety of our employees are a top priority, and the Rangers will continue to diligently enforce the pandemic protocols that are in place at Globe Life Field,” the Rangers Said in a statement issued Friday. “These include temperature checks upon entering the building, mandatory wearing of face coverings, and regular sanitation and cleaning of the Globe Life Field facilities.”
