Altitude Waives Exclusivity Rights On NHL & NBA Playoff Games

Altitude is doing its best to make sure Denver sports fans can see the Nuggets and Avalanche as they start the playoffs in their respective sports. The network is also working on deals that would allow it to stream those games on an over-the-top platform as well.

Under the terms of media rights deals with the NHL and NBA, Altitude can waive its exclusive broadcast rights in Denver for nationally broadcast games. That would mean that customers of Comcast and Dish Network could watch the teams when their games are carried by national networks.

All first round playoff games will still be available on Altitude for Charter Cable and DirecTV customers.

“Our fans have been ignored and dismissed by both Comcast and DISH Network continuing to blackout their hometown Network” Altitude President, Matt Hutchings said in a press release. “We have never wanted our fans to miss a minute of action during Nuggets and Avalanche playoff runs.”

After the first round, both leagues tend to have all of their playoff games carried by national TV partners. That would eliminate any influence the dispute between Altitude and local TV providers have on fans’ ability to follow the Nuggets and the Avs.
