Wildcard: The Downfall of a Radio Loudmouth will debut on HBO next month. On Thursday, the world got its first look at the documentary about the career and crimes of former WFAN morning man Craig Carton when HBO made the first trailer available on its YouTube page.
The trailer showcases a nice balance of Carton’s success in the radio industry and his descent into his gambling addiction. His former partner Boomer Esiason is amongst those that appear on camera for a sit down interview. In the trailer, we see him acknowledge that he never knew just how much money Carton had lost or owed to others.
If the trailer is any indication, Wildcard will approach Carton’s gambling as a story of high highs and low lows. In a discussion of his early success playing blackjack, Carton says “I thought I was the best. I didn’t think there was any casino that could beat me.”
That moment then gives way to Carton talking about borrowing as much as $30 million to gamble with and winning major jackpots minutes before going on air. All of it is set up to discussing the fraud scheme that landed Carton in prison.
Wildcard: The Downfall of a Radio Loudmouth premiers on HBO on October 7. It will also stream and be available on demand on HBO Max.
This idiot had the world by the balls; I have no sympathy what so ever for Carton. He did this to himself, no one forced him to gamble. He had the best job in the world & he screwed it up; this ball headed buffoon screwed his wife & kids & then tried to rip off innocent people because he was in a major hole with the casinos.
Sorry, but Craig Carton deserves no sympathy because if this were anyone else Carton would have been destroying that person each & every day on his show but now he wants our sympathy. And id the ‘FAN hires him back then they’re mutts also because that’s like spitting in the faces of the prople Carton ripped off.
