GoFundMe Campaign Launched In Honor Of Mark Seidel

WFNZ producer and assistant program director Mark Seidel died suddenly last month. No cause of death has been released. He was 37 years old.

On Monday, friends and co-workes at WFNZ launched a GoFundMe campaign to assist the Seidel family with costs accrued due to Mark’s unexpected passing. The goal is to raise $1500.

“Mark had a passion for radio, sports radio specifically, and he contributed fantastic skill and content to stations in both Charlotte, NC and Las Vegas, NV,” Catrina Wiles, who serves as Entercom Charlotte’s business operations manager and organized the campaign, wrote. “The radio community grieves this loss tremendously. In an effort to help his family during this tough time, we have created this GoFundMe to give something back to the family of the man who gave so much of his time and heart to us.”

“He not only cared about radio but the people in it,” WFNZ morning co-host Travis “T-Bone” Hancock, who was friends with Seidel since high school, told BSM. “Dozens of people from Las Vegas reached out after his death to say he either gave them a job or a chance to be on the air for the first time. That tells you all you need to know. He cared as much about the success of others as much as his own and we can all learn something from that.”

As of this writing, the campaign has already generated $675 in donations. BSM is hopeful others in the sports radio industry will make a contribution to help Mark’s family during a time of need.
