National Public Radio’s Sharahn Thomas-Fulton has been promoted to oversee content operations. Fulton has run NPR’s new operations for the last 15 years; she’s been with the company for more than two decades.
Before coming to NPR Thomas-Fulton ran New Jersey Public Radio” WNJT-FM Trenton (88.1) with the New Jersey Network. She graduated from Hampton University, in Hampton, Virginia.
“This is a proud moment. To be honest, I really never thought that I would be a vice president at NPR because I didn’t see the path for my work here leading to it, especially not in the newsroom,” Thomas-Fulton said. “I’m happy to have the opportunity to take content operations to the next level.”
“Sharahn has had a part in the planning and logistical coordination of every live news event NPR has covered since 9/11,” Nancy Barnes, NPR’s Senior VP of News and Editorial Director, said in a news release. “She is always prepared and calm, and she is able to instill that in other people who may be crashing in the newsroom for any number of reasons, from technical difficulties to setting up bureaus in emergency situations wherever our coverage takes us.”
According to the news release, Thomas-Fulton’s team manages production systems and resources used for content production.
