If you’re going to launch a sports radio station in Florida, doing it while the Rays are in the World Series, the Buccaneers have Tom Brady and the Lightning are Stanley Cup Champions isn’t a bad idea.
Beginning this week, sports fans in Pensacola can tune to The Fan, available on 101.1 FM and 1450 AM, a new station launched by Miracle Radio. The company completed the purchase of 1450 WBSR and 101.1 FM from Easy Media this month for $75,000.
An affiliate of FOX Sports Radio, The Fan features a mix of local and national programming. Their weekday lineup includes Outkick The Coverage with Clay Travis, The Dan Patrick Show, The Herd with Colin Cowherd, The Doug Gottlieb Show, and local radio veteran Paul Chestnutt who hosts The Sports Roundtable Show daily from 11am – noon. Chestnutt’s weekday show also airs on sister station WPNN 103.7 FM.
“I’m very excited for our moniker and the station being Florida (professional) sports and the Pensacola lifestyle,” director of news and sports for Miracle Radio Inc., Chris Bryan told the Pensacola News Journal. “It is the first real, hybrid radio station, this market is going to have an opportunity to enjoy.”
Weekend programming will feature FOX Sports Radio’s slate of national shows, but adding to their local coverage The Fan serves as Pensacola’s broadcast affiliate for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tampa Bay Lightning and Orlando Magic.
