“60 Minutes” reporter Lesley Stahl now has to have security by her side after her family received a death threat. The threat came after President Trump tweeted about his interview with Stahl last week.
The CBS show has, in the past, aired interviews with incumbent presidents and vice presidents and their opponents in the final stretch of the campaign. Stahl went to the White House to interview President Trump and Vice President Mike Pence.
The president ended the interview early after taking issue with Stahl’s line of questioning. He later tweeted his intentions to release the 37-minute archival footage early and attacked Stahl and the network.
TMZ reported that an immediate family member of Stahl received a death threat soon after the president’s tweet, but before the footage was actually posted online. Other news outlets are confirming that CBS has hired guards to protect Stahl’s California home and her family.
Neither Stahl nor CBS have commented publicly on the matter.
