Ryan Spoon Leaves ESPN For BetMGM

ESPN is losing its Senior VP of Social and Digital Content. Ryan Spoon is taking his talents to Jersey. That is where he will be stationed after being named the new COO of BetMGM.

The subsidiary of MGM Holdings and GVC Holdings is relatively new. Its goal is to take advantage of the growing interest in the sports gambling space from more traditional sports outlets. Spoon told Variety that he is excited to play a role in shaping the company’s future.

BetMGM has not shortage of partnerships in the sports world. The company has deals with NBA, MLB, NHL, MLS, PGA Tour and Nascar on the league level. Individual team partnerships include the Denver Broncos, New York Jets, Tennessee Titans, Detroit Lions, Las Vegas Raiders, and Vegas Golden among others.

The company also has a pair of strategic partnerships to put its odds in front of more fans. Those deals are with Yahoo! and Buffalo Wild Wings.

Where Spoon takes BetMGM next will certainly be interesting to pay attention to. Gambling partnerships are becoming a necessity for most teams and leagues.
