Dan Orlovsky Screws Up Iowa QB’s Name In Worst Possible Way

I’d like to say I’m mature enough to hear the word “penis” accidentally uttered on live television and not laugh, but I can’t.

Add this to the reel of sportscasters fumbling the term “bulging disc,” because Saturday night ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky had an unfortunate gaff when trying to pronounce the name of Iowa quarterback Spencer Petras. Orlovsky started to say “Spencer Peh – ” and then corrected himself with “penis,” before getting the name right on his third attempt.

Orlovsky compiled a solid 10-year NFL career as a backup quarterback, but might be most remembered on the field for a blunder with the Lions as he rolled out the back of the endzone, accidentally handing a safety to the Vikings. The Lions lost by two points that game and went 0-16 on the season.

But it’s safe to say Orlovsky’s broadcasting career won’t be defined by Saturday’s “penis” mishap. Orlovsky is a rising star at ESPN, as a college football analyst and regular contributor to studio shows for The Worldwide Leader including Get Up.
