Mainstream media outlets stayed away from covering the violence that erupted in Washington D.C. Saturday night between Trump supports and members of far-left wing groups. The violence started hours after a massive pro-Trump rally took place.
“I want to hear Joe Biden and Kamala Harris condemn Antifa/BLM criminals who assaulted and harassed peaceful demonstrators in DC today, including elderly and families,” tweeted political strategist Doug Stafford. “Of course {Biden and Harris} won’t, and the media won’t make them.”
Some media outlets reported that Trump supporters were the ones causing trouble in the streets of D.C.
“Radical Left ANTIFA SCUM was easily rebuffed today by the big D.C. MAGA Rally crowd, only to return at night, after 99% of the crowd had left, to assault elderly people and families,” President Trump tweeted. “Police got there, but it was late. Mayor is not doing her job!”
Video showed flags being burned, people being sucker-punched, kicked, and thrown to the ground.
“Watching a video of people being assaulted and robbed by BLM/Antifa in DC tonight brings back awful memories,” tweeted Kelley Paul. Her and her husband Rand were accosted by violent protests as they left the White House after the Republican National Convention in August.
Political commentator Candace Owens reacted to the violent footage. “Black Lives Matter and Antifa represent the absolute vermin of our society,” Owens wrote on Twitter. “They were created as the Marxist foot soldiers of the Democrat Party and given a pass by the leftist-controlled media. Pray for this young woman who was attacked.”
