The New York Times announced that they are partnering with Verizon to offer free digital subscriptions to U.S. high school students and teachers through next year. The program is open to teachers employed at recognized U.S. high schools. It allows them to invite students to receive unlimited free access to articles, videos, and learning content on the Times’s website.
“The mission of The New York Times — to seek the truth and help people understand the world — is critically important in this moment of upheaval. And as students and teachers head into an unprecedented school year, it’s essential that they have access to information that helps them understand what’s happening,” the statement said.
Students will have access to the free subscription through Sept. 1, 2021. Along with needing their school administrators or teachers to register for the program before receiving access, students participating must also be aged 13 or older.
