After looking like his sports media career might be over just a few months ago, Tony Bruno is making a comeback for the Super Bowl.
Bruno announced he’s joining the No Filter Network, a recent venture launched by former baseball player Eric Byrnes and Joe Manuele. The veteran sports radio personality will be hosting a Super Bowl pregame stream on the network, beginning at 5pm Sunday.
This is Bruno’s first new venture since he was fired by SiriusXM and Sports Map Radio last summer, following a Deadspin story criticizing the host for negative generalizations he made about NBA players. Shortly after the national radio platforms parted ways with Bruno, he took to Facebook and essentially said goodbye to his sports media career.
“All I can do now is walk away from this amazing ride of a career, thank all who know me as a person, and appreciate all of those who have listened, watched and helped me along the way,” Bruno wrote.
Five months later, Bruno is back with the recently launched No Filter Network which describes itself as the following:
“No Filter Network is an interactive virtual venue where Hosts can use Real Time Streaming to connect with viewers from around the world. With fully integrated ticket sales you can schedule your show, set your price and market yourself to the world wide web. Find anything from alternative sports commentary, live comedy, watch parties, instructionals and so much more. If you can do it in front of a camera, you can do it on No Filter Network!”
The platform features a long list of hosts, including other veteran sports announcers who were recently fired amid controversy such as Grant Napear and Jeremy Roenick.
