Fox News’ rocky relationship with former President Donald Trump continues as one of the network’s pundits, Geraldo Rivera, stated that the ex-commander-in-chief is guilty of inciting the mob that stormed the U.S. Capitol.
“I believe that President Trump is guilty as charged of inciting that mob,” Rivera said. “Not specifically to go and ravage the Capitol, but his words and actions following his refusal to accept the election for 77 days and the inflammatory rhetoric he used about the ‘big steal’ and so forth.”
Despite being a Trump supporter during most of his time in office, Rivera has repeatedly criticized Trump for lying about his loss, sowing division and inflaming tensions that led to the Jan. 6 insurrection.
However, Rivera does add that despite Trump’s involvement, the former president should receive a pardon. “I heartily endorse Karl’s suggestion. I wish President Biden would pardon Donald Trump,” Rivera said. “It would never happen, but wouldn’t that be a happy ending to this unsavory chapter in American history.”
