77 WABC in New York City is changing its afternoon lineup to include a new show featuring the station’s owner. WABC Evening News will pair John Catsimatidis and journalist Lidia Curanaj.
Catsimatidis has made some major changes since purchasing the station in March of 2020. WABC added the embattled former mayor of New York City, Rudy Giuliani, and Bill O’Reilly who was fired from Fox News for alleged conduct that cost the network millions of dollars.
WABC Evening News will air from 4-6 pm and will replace The Ben Shapiro Show which now airs on the station’s crosstown rival, 970 The Answer.
Former Rep. Pete King (R-NY) will serve as a guest along with former New York Governor David Paterson. The new show is expected to debut in a couple of weeks, according to Newsday.
In January, the station debuted 77 WABC Early News with Frank Morano and Juliet Huddy which can be heard starting at 5:00 a.m.
The station has concentrated on solidifying its music programming on the weekends with two new programs; Sunday Nights with Sinatra, hosted by Joe Piscopo and a Saturday evening show, hosted by Tony Orlando.
