The Hill reports that Vice News will have a new chief political correspondent as the media outlet promotes Liz Landers for the position. Landers is now in charge of the on-air political coverage, such as the newsmagazine television show “VICE News Tonight” and Vices’ broader news coverage.
Landers started the role last month, and a Vice spokesperson stated that she earned the promotion through her expertise and reporting. Despite the main focus being Washington, Landers, like others, have reports from outside the nation’s capital.
“We do things here in D.C., so I’m up on the Hill covering things going on at the White House and at the agencies,” Landers said. “But we also get out into the world and cover stories and how they impact people’s lives. [During] the pandemic, there was a lot of trepidation in going out into the field, but we found a way to keep people safe.”
Furthermore, Landers states that she’s interested in the news surrounding gun issues, racial justice, and the Biden administration’s efforts to address climate change.
