Food and theatre critic Valerie Smaldone announced that she is ending her program on AM 970 The Answer in New York City. The program, which was on the air for nearly three years, will continue as a podcast this fall when Broadway opens.
Smaldone recently began a new position as executive vice president and producer at multiplatform content company Audio Drama Initiative.
Smaldone had a successful stint as a personality at adult contemporary station WLTW. She spent 24 years there and worked her way up from part-time evening host to midday host in a matter of five years.
After graduating from Fordham in 1979, Smaldone worked at several radio stations and eventually began hosting and producing a cable television program called, Meet the VIPs.
In July 2019, Smaldone launched “Bagels and Broadway with Valerie Smaldone,” a talk radio program on AM 970 which combines discussions with Broadway performers and behind-the-scene creatives and producers, with stories about New York City eateries and innovative food products.
