Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) will hold a town hall that will air on Newsmax this Wednesday, the network announced. The event will occur at the retirement community known as “The Villages with hosts Sean Spicer and Lyndsay Keith, co-anchors of “Spicer and Co.”
DeSantis plans to tackle several topics, including seniors, vaccines, government lockdowns, big tech, and religious liberty.
The Hill has reached out to Newsmax regarding the number of people attending the event and if the audience would be ideologically diverse.
“Governor DeSantis has proved his resolve and confounded his skeptics over the past year, leading his state to excellence in fostering a thriving economy, rolling out the COVID vaccine, and guarding religious liberty,” Spicer said.
“This town hall will give Newsmax viewers deeper insight into the reasons why DeSantis is a true governor of the people.”
The Florida governor has had issues with several media outlets; recently, DeSantis sparred with “60 minutes” and only granted Fox News to cover a bill signing. The network has denied seeking any exclusive coverage.
