CNN legal analyst Susan Hennessey is departing the news media circuit as she announced on Twitter her new position within the Department of Justice in the National Security Division.
“I’m very honored to be joining the extraordinary team at the Department of Justice in the National Security Division,” Hennessey wrote.
“Thank you for all the kind words. (And a huge thanks to the folks at WH PPO, agency WH liaisons, and HRs who are working night and day to staff this government). I’ll still have this account in a personal capacity. But things will be a bit quieter around here.”
Hennessey has been vocal in her criticism of the Department of Justice under former Attorney General William Barr and former President Trump’s behavior during the special counsel investigation and congressional impeachment hearings.
According to Politico (via The Hill), Hennessey’s role within the department will be serving as a senior counsel for its national security wing. A spokesperson for the Justice Department did not immediately reply when requested for comment over Hennessey’s new position.
