Very few people in sports media are seeing their star rise as fast as Emmanuel Acho. The former linebacker joined FS1 just last year, replacing Jason Whitlock on Speak for Yourself. He may have already outgrown that role though.
Michael McCarthy of Front Office Sports reports that FOX has big plans for Acho and it all begins with his own solo show. If Acho were indeed to get a solo gig, he would be the only person at the network to have that honor and not be named Colin Cowherd, although Skip Bayless has also been the subject of rumors about a solo show as well.
FOX’s plans don’t stop there. McCarthy reports that FOX executives view Emmanuel Acho as a potential successor to Troy Aikman in the network’s top NFL booth. Aikman recently told Colin Cowherd that he still has designs on running an NFL front office. To do that he would have to leave TV. McCarthy writes that if that happens, Acho and former Panthers tight end Greg Olsen would likely be looked at as the top options to join Joe Buck.
As for Emmanuel Acho, a solo show and promotion to a top NFL booth would certainly be nice, but they may not be the pinnacle of his media career. His Uncomfortable Conversations with a Black Man series raised his profile to a degree that resulted in a publishing partnership with Oprah Winfrey and ABC turning to him to host special episodes of The Bachelor.
