Political correspondent Steve Kornacki has inked a new four-year, multi-million dollar agreement with NBCUniversal, the parent company for NBC and MSNBC, The Hill reports.
Kornacki’s new deal with NBCUniversal won’t keep him only on the NBC and MSNBC channels as he will be bringing his Big Board skills to the entertainment, sports, and streaming networks of the media outlet in a newly expanded role.
“Steve brings so much passion and genuine enthusiasm to his work, on top of his encyclopedic knowledge base, that it’s just impossible as a viewer not to share his interest and excitement,” Cesar Conde, Chairman, NBCUniversal News Group, said in a press release. “His interests really vary – so we’re fortunate to have a wider NBCU portfolio that’s equally dynamic.”
Kornacki has experience on the sports side with appearances on NBC’s “Football Night in America” and is now joining as a contributor in his new contract. Kornacki’s first significant job on the sports side will be aiding in the coverage of the Tokyo Olympics this summer.
“We are thrilled to formally welcome Steve to the NBC Sports team,” Pete Bevacqua, Chairman, NBC Sports Group, said. “After only a handful of NFL studio show appearances and a very lucrative day at the races at Churchill Downs earlier this month, his entertaining and informative presentations have yielded extremely favorable early returns from viewers and critics alike.”
