WSB-TV’s Carr Leaves for ProPublica

Emmy award-winning investigative reporter Nicole Carr is leaving WSB-TV after five years, according to The Atlanta Journal Constitution.

The paper said Carr is taking a position with an independent outlet called ProPublica. According to the company’s website, its mission is to use investigative journalism to expose wrongdoing and injustice.

Last week, several of Carr’s former colleagues reacted via Twitter with well wishes for her new journey.

“Good luck at ProPublica you will be fabulous,” tweeted Jim Osman, Broadcast journalism professor at Syracuse University. “You know you have a standing invite to one of my investigative reporting classes.”

The company said it is expanding regional reporting units which will focus on racial inequity, education, and criminal justice.

“We are thrilled to add this exceptional group of journalists to our growing newsroom,” South Editor, Mara Shalhoup said. “The members of these two new teams have a proven ability to hold powerful interests and decision-makers accountable.”
