ESPN 94.1 To Debut Tim Donnelly Show In Mid Days

Sports fans in the Norfolk/Virginia Bech market have not had enough local programming in the past. That is set to change on Monday, when ESPN Radio 94.1 launches The Tim Donnelly Show. It will be the second live and local show in the station’s weekday lineup.

“It means the world to me to have the opportunity to host a daily show in the 757,” Tim Donnelly told BSM. “This area’s history of producing some of the most influential athletes of all time is not lost on me. I will do my best to create content that can do justice to all of the news that originates in our backyard, in addition to the biggest stories across all of sports. I’m thankful for Keith Barton, Eddie Haskell, Nick Cattles and everyone at Max Media for giving me the chance to live up to those high standards.”

Donnelly currently serves as the producer of the Nick Cattles Show in afternoon drive. It is a job he will continue to fill while also hosting his own two-hour show each weekday at noon.

The duo made the announcement on Tuesday afternoon after an extended campaign teasing listeners that something big would happen on June 1st at 5:05 pm. After reading multiple guesses that included everything from Cattles leaving the station to the station flipping formats, the host revealed that listeners in the area would have a new local show to listen to on the station.

“Shortly after I arrived to the 757 in 2012, I felt like Hampton Roads deserved a bigger local presence on the dial,” Cattles added. “I’m thrilled that that day has finally come. I’m confident that Tim will provide compelling, informative and interesting content. This is truly a new day for ESPN Radio 94.1. Thanks to Max Media, Eddie Haskell and Keith Barton for believing in our growth.”

This will not be Donnelly’s first hosting experience. The former University of Delaware quarterback has previously hosted shows in Delaware, Nebraska, Upstate New York, and most recently in Blacksburg, Virginia, where he worked until joining Cattles in February of 2020.
