One America News (OAN) is reportedly launching a Spanish-language conservative network, according to The Daily Beast. OAN’s CEO confirmed that the network will launch at some point during the fall.
“It is accurate,” Robert Herring told the website. “We think they need it.”
The network is reportedly making plans to move one or two current Spanish-speaking OAN anchors over to the new channel, according to the report. OAN is also looking at hiring outside hosts and producers to round out its team.
The reason for the creation of a Spanish-speaking conservative news network is simple. The popularity of former President Donald Trump among Hispanic voters.
Data from the 2020 election shows that Hispanics are leaving the Democrat party in droves. Last year, South Texas showed a 30-point swing between the two parties. In South Florida, exit polls showed a 13-14% swing.
Herring declined to provide a specific date for the launch, instead asserting that it’s “gonna be around October, but not sure.”
Hispanic voters like Trump’s attitude about family values, work ethic, patriotism, and anti-Communism.
