KFAN’s Zach Halverson Comes Out As Gay On Air

KFAN’s power house morning show, The Power Trip, broke some personal news on Friday morning. Co-host Zach Halverson revealed on air that he is gay. He said that he decided to make the revelation to listeners on Friday after “months of getting closer and closer.”

Halverson says that the people closest to him already knew that he was gay. He noted both his KFAN teammates and his family have been overwhelmingly supportive. He also said that being gay is a part of who he is, and since that is where so much of the comedy and conversation on The Power Trip comes from, he welcomes questions and bits on the air.

“I’m looking forward to being who I really am,” Halverson said. “Everything is going to change today, but really, nothing is going to change today. I’m still me. I’m still Halvy. I’m looking forward to being more Halvy, 100% Halvy for the first time.”

It didn’t take long at all for the bits to start, with the other cast members of the show taking turns screaming things like “WHAT!?” and “How dare you!” immediately after Halverson’s statement.

Later in the day, Zach Halverson posted a message on Twitter expanding on what he had to say on air. In it, he noted that this is not a new revelation for him. He has known his sexuality since high school.

Similar to what Halverson says he has experienced from his co-workers, friends and family, the messages from listeners have been overwhelmingly supportive across social media.

  1. Not sure why this is such a big deal, does it really matter. Im happy for him,but why do people feel the need to announce things like this? i suppose if it makes one feel better , like they are lifting a burden off of their shoulders, but id say just be you. Good Luck Zach, you are a talented and funny young man

  2. Welcome to the community. I am happy that u can now be who u are to everyone. I still have to be in closet at my work. As a 55 year old I still can’t be me. I am so proud of u.
