There’s nothing more entertaining than a good old fashioned Twitter beef Thursday, especially if it’s Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy absolutely dunking all over Action Network senior executive producer Darren Rovell.
The exchange began with Darren Rovell tweeting out an article he wrote for actionnetwork.com titled ‘Penn National/Barstool Sportsbook Acquires theScore for $2 billion; Stock Up Big at Market Close’. Along with a link to the article Rovell also wrote “Analysts estimate fiscal 2022 revenues for theScore will be $85 million, meaning Penn/Barstool paid nearly 24 times that to acquire them”.
This is not the first time that Portnoy and Rovell have not seen eye to eye on Twitter, so it is no surprise that El Pres responded with a haymaker by tweeting, “D….I know you started paying attention to gambling last week, but if that’s how you’re evaluating this deal you have a pea brain. Keep in mind your company was recently for sale for $400 million. I strongly advised against it. If we wanted to own you at a fraction of (the) price we coulda”.
Needless to say, the back and forth was entertaining on a fairly quiet Thursday morning.
