Nationally syndicated radio host and podcaster Charlie Kirk does not expect the political climate to change in New York following the departure of Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
Kirk said on his radio show Tuesday that the state will get an even more liberal governor after Cuomo resigns.
Cuomo announced his resignation effective in14 days from Tuesday following a barrage of sexual misconduct allegations.
“This is a surprise, I thought he was going to go down fighting,” said Kirk. “Andrew Cuomo, just like Eliot Spitzer, just like [Eric]Schneiderman, goes the way of other New York politicians. I am sorry to say that New York is going to get an even more liberal governor in response.”
A recent probe conducted by the state attorney general found Cuomo sexually harassed 11 women and retaliated against his accusers.
Kirk questioned the timing of Cuomo’s resignation and why a sexual misconduct scandal took him out of office and not the nursing home scandal.
“Because in the Democrat party, being accused of MeToo type stuff is far worse than potentially killing grandma at the nursing home.”
Cuomo came under intense scrutiny last year, during the height of the pandemic for sending COVID-positive patients into nursing homes for 46 days which allegedly helped to kill thousands of elderly New Yorkers.
