Big changes are apparently coming to NFL Network’s Good Morning Football. Co-host Nate Burleson has landed a new morning TV gig. The Los Angeles Times reports that he will join the cast of CBS This Morning.
Next month brings plenty of change for CBS This Morning. That is when Burleson is set to join Gayle King and Tony Dokoupil. The show is also moving into a new studio in New York City.
CBS bosses didn’t have to look far to find a replacement for Anthony Mason, who becomes a culture correspondent reporting across the network’s programs and digital platforms. Nate Burleson was already part of the network’s roster as a host of The NFL Today. He was also part of the company’s NFL Playoff game broadcast on Nickelodeon earlier this year.
In order to make room in his day for CBS This Morning, other work duties are changing for the former receiver. Burleson will give up his role as a correspondent on the syndicated entertainment news magazine Extra. He will remain at the NFL Network, however he will move off of Good Morning Football and into an analyst role.
The new host panel creates a very interesting competition between CBS This Morning and ABC’s Good Morning America. Both shows will now have a former NFL player as part of their cast. Michael Strahan became a full-time part of GMA’s cast in 2016.
