Two new faces are set to join MLB Network as coverage of the league’s postseason begins. Alex Avila, who just ended a 13 year career in the big leagues, will join MLB Central, while two-time World Series champion Hunter Pence joins MLB Tonight.
MLB Network will have plenty of game coverage. The network will carry two games in the AL Division Series. It will also have studio coverage every night during the postseason.
“I’m honored they asked me,” Alex Avila told The Big Lead. “If there’s one thing I can do it’s talk baseball.”
Avila admitted that he has had his eye on a broadcasting career when his playing days were over. His career came to an end after a single season with the Washington Nationals. He spent time with the Tigers, White Sox, Cubs, Diamondbacks, and Twins as well.
“I’m looking forward to working with a new team and new teammates, to find another passion and feed off each other,” he added.
