This has been a real bounceback season for Monday Night Football on ESPN. The year-over-year numbers are good seemingly every week. Week 6 is no exception.
This week’s matchup between the Buffalo Bills and Tennessee Titans drew 12.6 million viewers on ESPN and ESPN Deportes combined. For the fourth week in a row, that is growth over the same week of the 2020 season. It is especially impressive in Week 6, because last week in 2020, the Dallas Cowboys were featured on Monday Night Football. The Titans’ victory scored an audience 6% larger than that game.
For the year, ESPN has plenty to celebrate. The Monday night games have drawn an audience of 13.8 million people per game on average. That is 17% growth from last season and 15% growth from 2019.
Certainly no one at ESPN wants to get ahead of themselves. You probably can’t blame anyone though that has wide eyes for the Week 7 matchup. While the Saints and Seahawks may not be of significance to fans across the country, it will see the Manningcast return.
ESPN2’s alternate broadcast saw its audience grow each week it aired during the first three weeks of the season.
