Nationally syndicated talk personality Dan Bongino’s stance against vaccine mandates may end up costing him his radio show.
Podcast Business Journal reports that Cumulus Media which owns Westwood One, which distributes Bongino’s show, is running the best of this week while it figures out how to handle an ultimatum given by Bongino on his show last week.
In case you missed it, a fully vaccinated Bongino came to the defense of several former Cumulus employees who have either been terminated or resigned over mandates.
“I’ll say this again; I’m not going to let this go,” Bongino said. “Cumulus is going to have to make a decision with me – if they want me to continue this partnership or they don’t.”
Bongino reacted to being taken off the radio during his podcast episode #1634 Tuesday. “The fight with them has a real impact,” he said.
“Behind the scenes, it’s getting a little ugly here. I wasn’t on the radio today. I don’t know what they did, played the ‘best of’ or whatever. You don’t treat people this way. You don’t let people go because they insist their body is theirs.”
Several large radio companies are mandating their employees be vaccinated against COVID-19 or face termination.
Cumulus launched the Dan Bongino Show on May 24. The show started on 115 affiliates but has grown to include more than 300 radio stations around the country.
Neither Cumulus nor Westwood One responded to the website’s request for comment.
