Brandi Kruse Discusses KCPQ-13 Departure, Going Independent

Quitting a job is never an easy moment, especially coming off the coronavirus pandemic where many people, especially in media, were laid off. Nonetheless, Brandi Kruse decided to leave her gig with Fox-owned KCPQ-13 and popular political TV show, “The Divide with Brandi Kruse.”

Kruse appeared on KIRO Radio to discuss her decision as she now ventures into a new role as an independent journalist. The choice to leave corporate media also comes with launching a new podcast that lets her do what she considers she does best.

“You’ve actually known about this for a long time because you’re kind of a confidante of mine,” Kruse said. “I came to the conclusion if I wanted to do my best work — my best work for the public — I didn’t believe I could work for corporate media and work for the public at the same time.”

In her appearance on KIRO Radio, Kruse revealed why she decided to leave KCPQ-13, a dispute with FOX 13 management regarding the future of her show, which she created in 2019.

“We could not work past that disagreement,” Brandi said. “I was upset because it meant so much to me. I knew that I couldn’t do the kind of journalism that I wanted to do. If I couldn’t do it there (KCPQ 13), I decided I was going to do it on my own.”
