Several people took time to make complaints to the FCC about Eli Manning shooting the double bird on ESPN2 during the Week 3 Manningcast. Eli was describing the way even the children in Philadelphia would treat him when the Giants came to town.
No one involved with the Manningcast or ESPN is going to face disciplinary action. Cable television isn’t subject to the same FCC decency rules as broadcast television.
Damon Amendolara doesn’t care what the consequences are. He just wants the people that filed the complaint to know that they are the ones that are out of line.
“If you found the time and the energy to A) be offended and B) write to the FCC, you’ve got real problems,” the CBS Sports Radio morning man said. “You’ve got real issues. You’re looking for something to be offended by.”
He cited shows that he found more offensive, including CSI, which he pointed out is often on in the middle of the day. The amount of sex, blood, and violence on television should make two fingers the least of nagging parents’ concerns.
“I watch TV and I’m offended by everything but the Manningcast,” Damon Amendolara said.
Amendolara particularly objected to people that cited the event as disturbing to their children. He said that if that is true, the kids in question are in for a rough life.
“I’ve got news for you, if you think your kids are affected by Eli’s double bird, your kids are turning out awful for a lot of other reasons. If they can’t handle that, your kids are going to be a nightmare or already are and it has nothing to do with Eli Manning.”
