Sal Licata is one of the newest full-time hosts at WFAN. Long before he was sharing opinions of his own though, he was making station legends like Steve Somers and Mike and the Mad Dog sound their best.
With Friday being Somers’s final show on the station, Licata took to Twitter to share a little bit of history from his days as a producer. In November of 2007, Licata worked with Somers for the final time and asked for a souvenir to commemorate the occasion.
Licata showed off a copy of the written notes that made up Steve Somers’s monologue for that evening. He asked the Schmooze to sign them as a keepsake.
“Thanks for your friendship, your professional help, your insight and knowledge. I learned a great deal from you,” Somers wrote above his signature.
WFAN listeners are experiencing a passing of the torch. Steve Somers was the last original voice still on WFAN. His night time slot will be divided between Sal Licata, who adds two more hours to his overnight shift, and Keith McPherson, who will be on from 7 pm until midnight.
