The Chris Cuomo era is officially over at CNN. The network terminated the former anchor Saturday following an indefinite suspension for his involvement in his brother’s sexual misconduct scandal.
The network released a statement that revealed that new evidence had circulated following the initial action. A law firm was retained by the network, which discovered the new details.
“While in the process of that review, additional information has come to light,” the statement read. “Despite the termination, we will investigate as appropriate”
Cuomo was suspended indefinitely Tuesday in the wake of documents released by The New York Attorney General’s office that pointed to his attempts to help his brother Andrew Cuomo cover up allegations of sexual misconduct.
Cuomo has denied any wrongdoing in this case. In May, Cuomo was reportedly told by CNN to stop communicating with his brother’s aides.
Last week, Cuomo called his suspension from CNN “embarrassing” and reiterated that he did not try to influence the network’s coverage of his older brother’s political scandal.
