Three legendary Charlotte broadcasters will be inducted into WBT’s Hall of Fame during a ceremony in April.
According to a release, the announcement came during The Bo Thompson Morning Show Wednesday. The new inductees include John Stokes, Bob Lacey, and Jim Szoke.
The ceremony will come on the station’s 100th Anniversary ceremony on April 9, 2022.
Jim Szoke is the only member of the 100th Anniversary class still actively on the air at WBT. Szoke is in his 26th year at WBT. He’s credited with helping to secure the rights to the Carolina Panthers at WBT, later being named to the first-ever Carolina Panthers Radio Network crew.
John Stokes retired from the station in 2019. He was inducted into WBT’s Hall of Fame in 2019, but the celebration was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Bob Lacey began his career at WBT in 1972. He rose to prominence hosting a wildly popular nighttime talk show called “Lacey Listens.” He was promoted to morning drive several years later and ultimately moved onto television. Lacey returned to radio as part of the nationally syndicated “Bob & Sheri Show.”
WBT will celebrate its 100th Anniversary on Sunday, April 10, 2022.
