ESPN Brings Back Coach’s Film Room For CFP Megacast

While the ratings were never huge, the coach’s film room was part of past college football national championship games that always got a lot of attention on social media. In the past, ESPN would gather four or five current college football coaches to sit in a room with a moderator and tell people at home what they are seeing as they watch the top two teams in the country play.

The coach’s film room was not part of MegaCast coverage of the 2020 College Football Playoff National Championship Game. It returned last year, but due to travel restrictions, featured only coaches from programs in North Carolina, where the broadcast originates.

Monday night, the Film Room returns with a new twist. Jimbo Fisher and his staff at Texas A&M will be the coaches involved. Fisher and the Aggies were a favorite in the SEC this year and handed Alabama its only loss of the season. After a disappointing 6-6 finish, the team had to pull out of the Gator Bowl amid Covid concerns.

It will be one of 13 different presentations of Alabama vs Georgia on Monday night. In addition to the traditional broadcast on ESPN and the Film Room, which will air on ESPN 2, there will be a Spanish broadcast on ESPN Deportes. The SEC Network will carry integrate both the Georgia and Alabama radio calls into the game. The individual radio calls over the video from the game can be found on ESPN’s app.

Fans listening on ESPN Radio will hear Sean McDonough and Todd Blackledge call the game. Kris Budden and Ian Fitzsimmons will be on the sidelines.
