Mainstream media reacted to Sen. Rand Paul, (R-Ky), and Dr. Anthony Fauci‘s public feud which occurred during a Senate hearing Tuesday.
On Wednesday, pundits MSNBC and CNN came to Fauci’s defense calling Paul “sick” and accusing him of “defaming” Fauci.
Paul accused Fauci of lying about the pandemic. He also claimed Fauci tried to “takedown” some scientists who disagreed with him.
Fauci and other top U.S. health officials were testifying before the Senate on the response to the Omicron variant.
Housing Works medical director Dr. Lipi Roy joined MSNBC’s “The ReidOut.””I’m shocked that Rand Paul was a former physician because he does not exude any of the qualities that doctors and nurses possess,” Roy said. “Empathy. Compassion. A penchant for science and data to drive healthcare policies.”
CNN host Kate Bolduan pulled away from the live coverage, calling the exchange “unhelpful hysterics and drama.”
CNN’s guest, University of Alabama infectious diseases professor Dr. Jeanne Marrazzo, called Paul’s jab “political theater at its worst.”
Fauci joined CNN’s Anderson Cooper Tuesday night and accused Paul of using him to “raise money for his campaign.”
